Mommy Glaze

How many moms out there believe that, while their children may be "learning" by watching Dora or Mickey Mouse Playhouse, you are pretty sure that your brain cells are leaving by the minute? We've only ever had one tv in my house. My husband and I chose to have it that way because we wanted to know what they are watching at any given time. The problem that crops up with that is we ALWAYS know what they are watching. My brain (and sarcasm) do not turn off just because there are cartoons on. I spend way too much time over thinking and making observations that while not always crude, are usually inappropriate for kids.

Like, for example, I think that Isa (the iguana from Dora the Explorer) has a hopeless crush on Boots (the monkey). Boots, in typical male form, has no idea and/or interest. And seriously, where are her parents? But I know we've all thought that.

Luckily, my girls (ages 8,6, and almost 5) are starting to outgrow Dora. So, I have not had to worry for the little girl's safety while out and about, or the probability of her contracting something from her monkey friend for awhile now. We have been exploring Netflix and they have discovered super-heroes, 80's cartoons and anime. All of which I'm excited to share my musings on with you. Check back soon for a discussion on whether Phineas and Ferb's parents are clueless or shrewd.
